Mini Cooper

Hi All

For the last while (along with several other things) I’ve been working on this Mini Cooper, and I’ve decided to upload it here, to get some feedback on it, as well as some tips and tricks on how to improve it.

I’ve been modeling it in seperate parts, rather than from a cube, so that is why the joints look funny, as I will finnish them at the end.

Here it is so far.

The materials, lighting, etc, are not at all what I’ll probably have at the end, so I’m just focusing on modeling at the moment.

Thanks
Cuby

P.S I’ll try and post some more views tomorro.

Looking Great! Materials need work, Grill, wheels and tyres are excellent. Whats the number going to be on the numberplate?

It looks very cool already! It’ll be ultra good when the joins are done!
EDIT: The numberplate should either be HP62442 or PI3142 or POSAUNE

Where is the cubes?

looking good. when you get around to it i would add the pin stripes down the middle of it i like mini coopers better that way lol.

you might wanna fix the creases.
Good stuff tho.

i can see the wheel through the grill of the car!!! INVISIBLE MOTOR!!!1!!
nice work there Cuby
still needs to have an inside and needs those creases fixed

yeah also i can see right through the body of the car through the gap at the top right of the front tire!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Nitronic755: Yeah, the materials currently assigned a just stuff I’ve throwen on it, and are probably nothing like it’ll be in the end.

Popsy: Thanks. Not sure about the numberplate. May I ask why it should be either of those?

Marsan: Hehe. Sorry, no cubes with this one. This work is completely non-Cuby related.

ledluver23: Hmmm, maybe. I like them with and without the stripes. We shall see…

trak wrecka: Yeah, ok. Thanks.

Jeepster: Hehe, yeah. As you can tell it’s still definately a work in progress, and needs lots of work done to it. I’m just doing little bits at a time, and thought I would do the middle last (including seats and stuff). So any gaps you see, will be fixed in time.

I’ve posted an image of the back of the Mini too, and I’ll remove those creases, and improve it some more…

hmmm hmm hmm i think i will go for a ride in my new car… doo de dooo… bump AAAARGH car crumples up OH THE HUMANITY!

Haha. Thanks for the comment 57r1k3r. I know none of the pieces fit together yet, and they still don’t in this update, but they will one day.

Anyway, heres a small update. I’ve added seats, which I’ll probably re-make anyway. Also a steering wheel, Mini logo, and some other minor improvements. I’ve also attempted lining up the parts on the right hand side of the render better, but obviously it all still needs lots of work.

Thanks

wow, what an improvement. now tint the windows and put spinners on the tires. The liscence plate should be “PLAYR” :RocknRoll: Oh, I think that Mr. T is a playr too :ba:

Ok, I’ve been working on it a bit recently, and so I thought I’d post an update of the latest work, only to discover that it’s been updating itself automatically, as I’m uploading regular updates to the same site, and overwriting the original file. So if you just keep checking back every day or so, you should be looking at the latest image in the post two up from this one.

Anyway, what do you guys think of it now?

I’ve got a question though, and I was wondering how I could present the Mini Cooper in the final render? Because I don’t really want to use just a plain background like I’ve got at the moment. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Cuby

Blue is cool. Needs Union Jack on the roof.

You could do a showroom, with a turntable and stuff. Also means you don’t need to worrk about a driver or motion blur.

But you’re not finished yet. A bit more work on the detailing in the lights and interior would help, I think.

what light setup do you use? did you use hdri?
is it possible to see the wireframe?

and I was wondering how I could present the Mini Cooper in the final render?

park it near parked “cube” cars?

Nitronic755: Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I was thinking about perhaps a showroom. I’m definitely not planning on doing any people or anything. Motion Blur doesn’t bother me, but this is going to be a still image, not an action frame. And yes, I’m most definitely not finished, and there’s still LOTS to be improved on, but I’m still wanting to get a background in place.

garuhhh: The light setup is simply two Spots with Buffer shadows, plus a small Hemi lamp to light up the interior of the vehicle. I haven’t used hdri yet I don’t think, but I plan on getting some in there some time soon. Hehe, I could park it near some cubes.

Here’s a wireframe. Sorry, I missed a couple of objects to make wire frame, but you get the idea.

looks cool! I know someone with a mini thats light blue and has 2 white stripes down it.

very nice, but yours is a fake mini! hahaha

only joking, but personally i can’t stand the bmw.
original all the way

only crit is theres creases or dodgy shadows at the back right of the pic, so back left of the model.

well done
