Hi all,
this is one current project, focusing on a form factor that is small easy to use featuring a full screen OS approach and putting focus on a good camera and phone combo instead of those ever growing smartphones that turn into a mini tablet.

Looks are one thing, how it feels and how you can use it is something different.
The Nexus 4 is great slim and I am each time afraid I might break it when it falls down because of the nice glass back plate.
Visually sweet - practical a disaster because it influences how you handle your device.
Striking a balance between both is quite a task.

Regarding your question, this is actually 100% Blender and put together in Pixelmator.
The mesh is modeled in a way so that it will be easy to transfer it to a NURBS system that can convert sds mesh models to NURBS poly surfaces.
Looks good. Is this “just” a concept or can I buy it in a few years, once I drop my Nexus 4 on the ground?

snap is loking so good, and lukin better then other smartphone by its size and looks…
A pretty simple light box simulation worked well, of course the highlight reflections on the glass parts are fake.
Also the camera screen is sharp while the background is blurred.
Dont drop the Nexus 4 ! I saw it not break but still dont ;)!
This is only a concept idea, actually part of a project for my students I felt worth to explore more. And also part as mentioned of an upcoming CGCoockie lecture series about surfacing design in Blender for Product Designers using this body as a simple example.
The funny thing is this shell is incredible hard to model with pure nurbs and so easy with SDS!
