This is what I get when i click i want to minimize stretch, it’s just annoying since it does that almost on every piece of grid I select. On some it doesn’t…but it isn’t exactly making it less stretch it just makes it stretch more.
This is really a pain in the ass to have to manually select each vertex and drag it around and try to make it stretch less. It’s this kind of stuff that pulls down the artist into a bottomless pit which he sooner or later wants to leave. I think devs should make it their highest priority to fix this…yeah and mid cut of course.
When it comes to minimizing stretch, it’s probably easier to just use the live LSCM unwrapping option.
The minimize stretch option in Blender, I don’t ever remember being a good solution for minimizing texture stretching. The live LSCM works much better at tweaking UV maps (and minimizing stretch) by allowing you to move verticies while it recalculates the neighboring parts of the map.
Also, try using conformal instead of angle based (unwrap, F6). Conformal tends to work better on less organic things. Alas, there is no perfect unwrap - You’ll always have to play a bit.
