Mirror modifier: bug??

This is really weird:

Never ever seen that before :eek:…

It’s like, someone decided to make it mirror X and Y not just X…

I’m hoping it’s not a bug…

Anyone know about this? Are there any workarounds or solutions or caused for this phenomena? Thanks

It looks like your pivot is messed up…

simply go to the edit window and press “centre new”, that should do it…

Well, that changed the position of the mirror, but it still mirrors in the strange way…

Could be on the right path, thanks! But still not working.

Just a guess – try ctrl-a in object mode – it probably uses the objects local axis.

Wow, thanks GreyBeard, you are the man!

Some of these things are so obscure… what do you think triggered the problem in the first place?

You always have to be aware of the local axis of your objects. You can display the local axis with f7->draw panel->axis. If you add an object and aren’t in top view or if you rotated the object while in object mode the local and global axis won’t be the same. ctrl-a is a quick way to make them the same. It is a good idea to do a ctrl-a on your object before parenting, tracking, and applying modifiers – it will save you a lot of head scratching later.
