Mirrored shape keys = useless?

Hey there.
I am quite new in all this Blender stuff but I do my best and spend a lot of time understanding, learning and getting myslef into it. I really don’t like learning with YT tutorials, I rather find out things on my own to make them more familiar…
Well… I wondered when does when my “D day” fiinally come. And it seem like it’s here.

I made a character mesh. I used a Mirror Modifier. Then I made lots - and I mean LOTS - of blendshapes… I mean “Shape Keys”. It was half a day long experience that I really wouldn’t want to repeat in a while.
But of course…
Obviously, I cant apply any modifiers to “Shape Keyed mesh”…
I guess that u need to apply modifs first and then its Shapies turn but… Well… Guys… Is there ANY WAY to get through this without having to remove those Shapies; appliyng modifier AND THEN make ALL those Shape Keyes all over again…?

I’ll be extremely grateful for every possible solution…

Just did a forum search and got this and one other for an answer


so this means that answer to my question is no, right? i know how to do it properly, but i wanted to know if there is a way without making my shapekeys all over again / redoing them.

Did you look at the link to the threads? Someone wrote a script that will allow you to keep them but will involve more than just clicking apply
