Mirroring shapekeys?

Hi all,

I’m working on my owl face rig. I made a shape key to make the right eye close, and the editing, for some reason, is effecting the left side of the face as well. It’s mirroring although I have no mirror modifier on the object. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong?

Only guessing since you neglected to attach your blend file
Turn off X-mirror in the toolshelf while in edit mode
Turn off proportional editing (button on 3d view header)
