mirroring

i was doing a tutorial, modeling a chair and all was going fine till i had to mirror an armrest. i select an object add modifier mirror… and it mirrors on the same object (x axis). im getting sick of this problem, it happened 3-4 times already on different tuts and up to that point i follow them step by step. :(. what do i do wrong?

  • SOLVED Thanks, sometimes works sometimes it doesnt, this particular time i selected in mod settings.

The mirror modifier mirrors around the objects origin point or another object you can select in the modifier settings.

You can reposition the origin with the options in the toolshelf (T) while in object mode.

i have a questions that is quit bothering me… its… mu first of all before i make someone angry…cant i be making new threads or can i ask all in the same? pity it is not possible to change to thread title. anyways i will ask this time… cause it really makes my head hurt.

well i extrude verts and after snap them together and fill it i get these problems:

  1. it creates faces different shade (light dark grey) even if they are at the same level.
  2. some faces dont get a dot in the middle.
  3. about verts, some of them does not snap together, even it initially it shows that it does and you can notice it only after you try creating a face.

pity it is not possible to change to thread title

    Please ALWAYS supply an example blend file and annotated screenshots, much easier to understand what you are actually talking about.
