Mjölnir, Hammer of Thor

Well, I haven’t posted anything at all here in ages, so I figured I actually would for a change.

This, for anyone who doesn’t immediately recognize it, is Thor’s hammer as depicted in the Marvel movies. Really just a bit of fan art I guess, and not real deep subject wise, but I though it turned out looking pretty cool.

Interestingly, it started mostly as a test in sculpting the vine patterns on the hammer head and pommel…

Let me know what you think!

(Note: This is just the thread thumbnail.)

The hammer looks great! Very good modeling, and nice materials. Is the background a photo or is it modeled?

A very “powerful” image!

Very nice! Looks quite photorealistic.

@ShadowCamero Thanks!

@James Candy Thanks! The whole picture is actual geometry. No image planes, image backgrounds, etc.

That’s incredible! How do you achieve the level of detail in the cracked ground? Is it modeled, or is it mostly in the shader? I’d love to learn how to create this effect for an upcoming video (coincidentally a Thor vs Hulk video!).
