Model links, separate model and animation

Hi, i want to model the mesh in another scene or blend file, BUT once i import it i want to animate it, WITHOUT corrupting the link. Say, once i edit it there, the mesh change should update in the linked scene.

If i import it as Linked, i cant animate it, wont let me…, but i dont want to append cause then its not linked.

If i have a different scene, i ca assign it per Ctrl+L, BUT if i animate it, it is animated in BOTH scenes which i dont want.

So how do i solve this ?
