I tried subdividing the mesh, but that didn’t work either. Please,… I’m desperate for help… If anybody can assist me with this, I’ll send them the .blend through e-mail.
Guys, thank you so much for helping me get this far; I just need to take the next step further
Lukeland, slow down, take a deep breath, stop hyperventilating.
You should be able to attach a blend file to your post. Just scroll down to the Manage Attachments button.
I’m really not sure why you’re having so much trouble with this. Sounds a bit like you’re just trying things at random and freaking out when they don’t work.
Working with the subsurf modifier takes a bit of practive. Start a new file, and see if you can duplicate the three examples I showed you earlier. Play around with them and get a feeling for how the extra stabilizing edges work. Then try the same thing with cubes instead of cylinders.
The blend1 file is like a back up. When you save your file, the earlier blend is renamed blend1.
you need loop cuts on the circular part too. the loop cut tool won’t recognize tris, so call up the knife tool ( K ) and choose the option ‘midpoints’ , then draw a line through all the triangles, and press enter. now you can make regular loop cuts on the new faces, and that should take care of that pinching.
Thanks, fort ash! I got the file, subdivided the mesh once, and added a subsurf modifier to it. It has this odd edge around the front towards the roof; I’m not sure if I like it or not though… Is there a way to fix it?
