Modeling buildings

How would you model a building, I meen the rooms and walls?
I think the best methode would be to model the walls with vertexes and extrude it, but is there a more flexible and easy way?
Thanks

Model the plan, if you use edges not faces then extrude the thickness of the walls. Then extrude them up around the windows and doors. If you model the edifice and try to model the doors and windows in later you’ll run into all kinds of headaches.

To plan angles (pitch of roof etc) add a dummy plane or cube and extrude one corner vert across the opposite corner and use the triangulations as a template.

Use plugins from the above site for bricks and tiles if you want. Some of them actually model the whole brick obviating the need for building walls.
