Modeling bunkers built into the side of a mountain

Hi, I’m rather new to Blender but I have had previous experience with other 3D modeling programs before. I’ve gone through several tutorials and have a basic (if you can call it that ) understanding of the program.

Right now I am trying to create a model of a mountain pass that has bunkers/fortifications built into the side of the mountain. So my questions are:

  1. How would I create realistic mountains using Blender?

  2. If making mountains in Blender doesn’t work out the way I want, is there a way for me to import saved mountains from a different 3D modeling program?

  3. What are some useful tips for creating buildings in Blender? I have a general idea of how I will make them, but I know Blender is jam pack of those little features that help out a lot.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well not sure how I would go about making decent looking mountains…I remember seeing a technique somewhere where they used a cloud texture and used noise and it looked decent.

But yes you can import models from other programs…under File there is a selection called import and you can import a variety of file extensions. So if you have made a mountain in another program I would go ahead and import that in.

I you want a program for making mountains, I know a few.

Take a look at this thread for a terrain generator. ANT

Oh, the turrain generator look pretty good. I’ll give it a go. If it doesn’t work out then yeah I’ll import the mountains.
