Hi! I’m currently building a model of a cell with Blender. A stumbling block for me is to find out a good way to model the highly folded inner membrane of a mitochondrion. I’ve tried different approaches such as displacement modifiers but the tube-like protrusions of the membranes either end up to spiky on the tips or too short. I’ve been thinking about using a similar approaches as for tentacles, i.e. growing hairs inside the mesh and try to shape them in an irregular fashion. Any suggestions for how to do this? See the attached image of a mitochondrial cross section for reference.
