Modeling in perspective view from ref image?

Hi all,

I have a few good shots of a spaceship I’d like to model, however, they are all in perspective view, I don’t have any orthographic views. Is there any way to match the camera to the ref image so that I can model it from start to finish in that perspective view?

It’s easier to turn your reference image into an orthographic view, using the crop tool in photoshop. It will give you an approximation of the dimensions you need. heres a tutorial i found http://designorati.com/articles/t1/photoshop/771/straightening-buildings-part-1-the-crop-tool.php
Of course, the less perspective on the original image the better it’s going to turn out.

If there is any part of the ship which you know is a box or a flat rectangle, then you can start by modelling that, and then adjust your camera so that the image of that part matches the reference picture.

Best wishes,
Matthew
