Modelling 4 legged animals

Does anybody know where there are good tutorials on how to model 4 legged animals, I want to model a small dog, more specifically a yorkshire terrier, for animation purposes. I just want to get the general topology correct so the verts don’t warp incorrectly come time to rigging. Plenty of tutorials on modelling humans but not enough on the other… Any and all help will be so greatly appreciated!!!

there is a very good tutorial for a cartoon dog specifically for maya
(it translates to blender - just different buttons)

I think there is a free dog mesh in one of the other free tutorials
http://www.simplymaya.com/movie_pages/category.mhtml?cat_id=23

(you have to register to be able to DL but it’s free)
the 2 tutorials I am talking about are called “cartoon dog”
and “skeleton basics” - that is about rigging but they make the mesh available to DL so you can have a look at how it is put together
(I haven’t checked what format the mesh is in - so it might not be able to be imported)
