Modelling a plate

First of all I only started messing around with Blender about a week and a half ago, so this plate probably looks really ugly to you…

I was following a tutorial and the plate is the only part I made entirely by myself. The problem is that the model looks better in object mode than when I’m rendering it for some reason. Even when I render with shift+z the plate looks smoother than when I render it. See in the picture below the rim of the plate becomes blocky. It probably has something to do with the way I modeled the plate. (I ended up doing some weird stuff on my way to making it look like a plate)

(I have a picture of it in object mode too, but I was only able to upload three pictures. So I thought an image of edit mode would be more useful)

Make sure the render step on the subdivision surface modifier is higher than 1.

I already had it set to 2 for the rendering. (everything was at 2) I actually changed it to 6 for the rendered image in my first post…but it didn’t make a difference.

Be sure, that the render box is enabled in the modifier:

upload a file with just the plate if you can… then we can see exactly what is wrong.

A .blend file in the starting post will make a difference, getting an answer instead of wasting everyone’s time.

That was the problem, the render box wasn’t enabled in the modifier. Thank you.
