One of my current characters. Body needs some additional modelling.
The character is already fully rigged and ready for animation. Might have to add some bones depending of specific needs of action. But the basics are there.
I have laid out a story for the character, but I’m open to comments and suggestions. If there’s something you’d like to see him do let me know.
EDIT: Also starting material editing now. Comments on materials are welcomed.
Ooo, looks spiffy…
Just curious, how does the foot rig work. Like mancandy’s hand rig? but it looks like these toes curl 2 ways, have you made those bones without a bend in it, so it can bend two ways? What is the idea behind it?
Currently the two ways bending happens only from the knuckles. But I might think of adding more flexibility. Wouldn’t be hard to do.
At the moment the leg works so that you can “roll the feet” you can “stand on the toes” or “back toe”. It knows when the foot hits the ground, so jumping, etc is simple to animate.
The idea is a twist of a classic “escape from the farm” [a la Chicken Run], but it would be a bit more aggressive, and jokes would be more adult oriented [as seen on the pic above].
it’s a middlefinger.
Are the large bones in/over the toes actually “floor” bones? do the toe bones with an IK constraint have a floor constraint as well? I can guess as to how you’ve done the foot, with the double IK constrained bones, but i can’t really tell. Would you mind posting a blend of the rig? Don’t feel obliged of course, but I’m just curious.

No, there’s not a single “Floor” constraint in this rig. Though, you get s sort of floor bone effect with the IKs [the base bone for the foot acts like some sort of a floor].
I need to re-do this walk cycle. This was more of a test to see if I can render using ffmpeg, oh well. I’ll make a decent animation tomorrow. Jumping and all.
model is cool, rig too, animation is still very stiff, the body doesn’t wobble at all. the toes don’t do anything, but what comes to mind first is that the entire body rests on the backtoe during the walk cycle. at the end of a cycle the leg unwinds untill it is flat on the floor, but imo this should happen before he raises his last leg (thus shifting all the weight to his front leg, which rests on only this one toe).
Not trying to be an jerk here, I like this work, but I think that’s what’s flawed in this animation.
thanks for you comments, but I’m aware of the problems with the said animation.
it just took damn long to render that and after I saw the render with the faults, I decided to post it anyway since otherwise it would have meant another day delay… and I had promised to show some animation with it.
