I got my start file with some pre made mat for cycles which is about 2 MB
now if I add some very simple 3D model for let say a light fixture
I add my mat on that model then I delete all the other mats and save file
saved as compress here
when I look at my file I’m still at 2 MB
so why the compress did not remove all the mat data in file ?
thanks for any feedback

Maybe you’ve got a fake user assigned to those materials. Or maybe you’ve still got hidden objects with those materials assigned to them on one layer or multiple ones. Press alt+H to un-hide everything on active layers.
got to find my script for ob and mat
but don’t think I have any hidden objects
I copied all ob on layer 1 to another empty file and I get only 261 KB
other one is like 2.4 MB
don’t know why the difference
only difference is that I erased objects before I appended things
in the other one I deleted objects after I added other objects in it
almost like compress is not working some how may be
strange
thanks

Give me the file and I’ll try to fix the problem, can’t promise anything.
I’m doing some testings right now, but I assume you have automatically pack into .blend files turned on. So that packs your hdr image along with it once you save.
Hold Shift while clicking X to permanently delete the hdr-i image.
ok forgot to check files in UV
will add that to my script
