Modifying a rigged mesh?

So I’ve got a character mesh which I’ve attached a rig, weight painted and added a bunch of animations. The character is to be imported to unity as part of a first person shooter.

Basically, what I want to know is if it’s possible to edit the mesh once I’ve done all these animation steps. There are a few things I want to do:

  • Make tweaks to mesh (lengthen arms, add details etc.)
  • Change the character’s helmet

I’d really appreciate some guidance as to whether this is possible and want precautions I need to take. For instance, presumably I’d need to adjust the skeleton if I was lengthening parts - would this affect animations?

I’ve invested many hours into this character and it seems like such a waste to ditch it all just to make a few minor tweaks so any help but be greatly appreciated, thank you!! :slight_smile:

(I’m particularly worried about issues going on “beneath the surface” as it were: problems Blender or Unity has but superficially aren’t there)
