Hi how could i export a model that i made into a comercial game lets say …Battlefield 2 and have it work in the game say i made a vehicle how could i get it in the game so i could run up to it and drive it and whatever else?
I don’t think they would even need to import that into blender, it looks like they just changed the textures of the clothes in the game, which can be easily done by opening up the texture with gimp and editing.
I know it’s possible with some games to change the models, and even add in some new ones, but I’m not very experienced with that sort of thing. What you could do is find out what what extension their models use, then see if blender can export to that file type, and try replacing one of their models with it (of course you should backup theirs in case it doesn’t work). If blender can’t export to their file type, but it can export to .obj, you might be able to find a program that changes a .obj file to one another game could use.
yes, as facemania says, it would be easy to change the clothes textures. people change the textures of vehicals and buildings in halo 2 all of the time. but those people also use vehichals already in the game to mod other vehichals. for those of you familiar with halo2, this would be like changing the warthog to have the banshee’s properties like flying. if it is possible in blender, you couldnt do it in blender alone. check around some modding Q&A sites.
I was looking to mod Homeworld a while ago, but had trouble finding an open source program that exported .obj or .3ds to .peo. The only program that seems to do the job costs money.
Anyway, there should be a “Modding” section to the Battlefield forums.
