Modo to Blender using Collada 1.4.1

Hello - I’m having trouble exporting animation from Modo 501 into Blender 2.56 using Collada 1.4.1…

Everything comes into blender correct apart from rotation… The Rotation Mode gets automatically set to ‘Quaternion’. All the keyframes are present in the right place along the timeline but rotations are totally off… Changing the Rotation Mode back to XYZ removes all keyframes…

Anyone got a clue why this isn’t working?

Thanks
Alex

Anybody? I tried importing the same file into maya with no problem so I’m thinking this could be a bug with blender’s collada importer.

seems that blender build 33352 on mac imports collada the most accurately… rotations are correct only on the keyframes… inbetween keys they go off… but for what I need to do (add clouds to a modo render) it’s good enough… hopefully one day collada will play nicely between the two.

Collada 1.4.1 importer is still broken, or is it only with dea-files from Modo 501???
Like ash sayd, it brings almost everything except rotations.

I tried Collada 1.4.1 importer for Blender 2.49b, but I got error…

Is there any suggestions? Blender build 33352 link is also dead…

Hi,

I had some critical issue using Collada 1.4.1 between Modo -> Blender so I had to look some alternative for Camera animation purpose. Then I notice that Blender 2.61 has Nuke channel import/export addon hidden under user preferences, add ons.

So now transferring camera data between Modo and Blender is possible using Fredrik Stenson’s NukeChanIO!!!

Blender doesn’t have a FBX importer. There is Collada 1.4.1, but it doesn’t work together with Modo 501 for some reason. So here is alternative way to transfer animated camera from Modo to Blender using Nuke *.chan format. Find Nuke Channel IO plugin from here: modo.stenson.tv/
