I simulated molten planetoids with the new radiosity render…here’s an avi:

I like the red shadow on the planet when the asteroids blocks the lights from the sun, it gives it that extra sense of motion. Cool.
I just made them both emitors, and cranked it way up on the red one. I am going to have to try doing something a little more high poly soon though. I noticed it can take a while to render once you jack up the polys.
The reason why it takes longer is that radiosity uses each poly as a face which emits light. Thus, the more faces, the more calculations. Just like anything else in blender really. I like the light being cast…you should texture the two bodies properly and make them full scale blenders. I think that would rick.
It’s probably a bit overkill to use Radiosity for such a scene, as it increases rendertimes by probably factor 10 to 100 instead of just adding a lamp inside the asteroid.
I was doing a test set up with some various stuff, and I forgot to subdivide my emitor, and it did some fairly weird things to some of my objects. There’s a little screenshot of it in General.
