This is a project I started today after image googling after asian architecture. Textures are just fillers atm and no sculptures are done so far… I uploaded the reference image so you know what I am modeling.
Ok. To be more precise, I have no clue what a CVS build is. I looked at the skull but it doesn’t say much since I don’t see any wire frame or know the techniuqes being used here.
A CVS build is a ‘current version system’ build, that means a cutting-art, state-of-the-edge newest development build ever. In the CVS test builds, the Blender 2.43 prototypes, there is a tool that actually lets you turn a mesh into a workable surface and sculpt it like clay. Yes indeed. Oh the deliciousness. It comes with a retopology tool, too, so you can work it down to an animateable mesh after. And it also is going to come with a tangent normal map generator so you can use all your sculpted detail on the lower-poly, better topology meshes.
Cool, is that equivelant to Zbrush? I have done some real clay modeling before and Zbrush rocks. Looking forward to try it out when my basic house structure is finished.
And thanks for all the nice comments on my idea, I will update it as soon as possible.
Ok. Todays update, I added some primitive roof and new walls/windows in the remote sections. All textures are still fillers except the roof tiles on the tower. The color is too blue compared to the original though.
It’s looking pretty good so far, but as I’m far too tired to critique you very closely I’ll just say the roof isn’t too blue, it’s too PURPLE. It needs to be more blue, but slate blue.
Ok. I am basicly done with the first part (view) except some small details, going over to finish the backside with my imagination and adding some small windows at cellar lvl.
But one must keep in mind that the CVS builds are not certified as reasonably bug-free. They have the hottest new tools, but there is no guarantee of freedom from program crashes that destroy all your hard work.
About the modeling, I have actually used alot of tris around the window-arches in this model since I leave alot parts solid. Anyone used with modeling architecture in blender and could tell me if that is a real bad habit in the end. Otherwise I will just leave it as it is since I havent noticed any drawback yet.
