Monitor Problem?

I just got a gateway computer dedicated to blender 3d!

Problem:
When I push “B” for box it does not show the box dimensions on the screen, although I can click and drag to select vertices. (I just can’t see the box/field of interaction)

Problem: The render window does not show my render progressing. It does not show a finished render until I move the window itself.

I’m thinking both of these problems are related, possibly to monitor or video card?

I’d love to know how to fix it!

It is your video card. What kind is it, and what OS are you on? You may need to update your driver.

I had exactly this problem when I built my Vista box. If you’re using an Nvidia card, try disabling antialiasing in the Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings.

I’m using an Intel Media Graphics, Accelerator 3100 (Thats what it says on the side of the comp anyway).

Its like working blind without that box tool or render progression!

Another strange thing: When I go to 16 bit instead of 32, the box and render progression works fine. But of course the picture on the render is banded!
