monsters-one

This is a reworking of an earlier picture from last year. All intrenal blender with photoshop textures. I wanted some moody and sureal lighting.
I came across a plroblem in that it seams that only area lights actual emit light around them, but are way too bright unless you turn them right down, and they dont have a halo, I had to mix spot lights with area lights to make the beams of light, and to actually make them light up the scene.

The ground is deliberately blocky. If only I had time I would do a short animation of this.

Very cool, except the lighting on the two lead characters seems inconsistent?

cool beans. i love the style. this one is my new desktop. if you do not have time for an animation, perhaps a sequence of images? more! i want more! = )

Ha, Absolutely amazing as usual.

5 stars, brilliant color sense, great composition,t he lighting looks wonderful…

Excuse me to go wipe up my drool…

hehe very nice fantastic work

hehe…funny

That’s really cool - great style! I would love to see them animated.

Thanks guys, I think I’ll have to learn some rigging techniques and at least make a short, unless any one want to collaborate on the animation, and we can all put it in our portfolios.

goosey Very cool, except the lighting on the two lead characters seems inconsistent?

If you look closely you’ll see that the blue light shinning on the left side of the closest oneeyed creature is coming from the blue lazer beam going past him, there is another lazer that is lighting the face of the distanced monster also, it doesn’t go past the small creature running so doesn’t light him.

If it was animatied it would make more sense as you’d see them being lit up

cheers

Cool !!! Very funny
I like your world nuts lol
5*

great job. The corners on that crack look way too sharp to me but besides that it looks amazing.

i absolutly love your work!

Love the artwork maybe you can upload it to 3DWorld magazine.
Rigging ain’t really hard on these kind of characters. For my latest short I used the Ludwig armature and removed some bones I didn’t need. The only thing I had to do was to make vertexmaps. Which is really boring but needed.
Anyway… great piece of art.

Hehe - I would love to help you rig/animate these guys… if you’re interested, just let me know.

Cheers

Nice image, once again, you do have your very own style. I especially like the postpro and the textures you applied there, it adds a lot to the weird / surreal mood. And even though I don’t have a clue what’s going on, it does seem to tell its own story.

Great style!!! And i just love the colors and that worn out look!!!

Thanks again for the comments

Thats sound great, I will get the models over to you at the weekend. Of course if you find you have no time to do it thats ok

well the lighting is comming from one place , and one is facing it and the other isnt

Yeah, let’s see what we can do :D…

Maybe to correct the confusion, for an at first glance, which is what i think goosey was talking about… can you make the lasers less alpha?? Make them more solid so you know for sure that it is shooting under his arm towards us… that might clear up the confusion…
OTHERWISE AWESOME!!! THAT LOOKS FUN AS HELL!!
Peace
