I work on some characters. I would like to have some comments to improve my modeling (the mesh not the design ;)).

This model is to be animated (for my game and in some animation trailer)

Looks excellent, though there is a six pole vertex in the forehead, though that area looks pretty flat so maybe it won’t cause any problems.

Also the eyes are a bit too open, the lids should close around the eye ball a bit more, to stop him looking corpse like.

I have made some modification to not have this six poles :wink:

yes it was a very good comment, and I have modified the mesh which is better (I think) :

I have made another hair to test, and I find it interesting, but not finished.

Yeah - cute character! Almost looks like a younger version of your avatar! It’s the hair that does it.

The sleeves are quite odd. will there be hands?

And I’m guessing the game model will be basicly the same without subsurf? Can I see that?

I think he’s talking about his MMO, not the BGE.

Quite nice topology. If you are going for heavy animation in the future as well I would advice you to to consider for example also this topology patterns (but your are very good for animation as well):

I like it overall, I think mouth shape is something to look at and possibly change on both people.

Looking pretty good. I especially like the overall style of your characters. Your mesh topology looks a little different then what I have seen from other threads. Why did you add those extra loops for the nose stem.
How many faces / tris do you have for the current model?
Is this a blender game or are you using a different game engine?

It’s simple : because it’s one of my First human characters (the 2nd girl, in fact), and I don’t know the good topology.
But now thanks to JiriH ;), there are some good explainations about a good topology for a human head, in this thread.

The girl has 4500 faces but it’s not made to real time, but to be rendered :wink:

I use Game Maker (for the client) and our Server is made in C.
It’s not a Real time 3D engine, but a 2D engine, because our game is a 3D isometric game :wink:

So, a new picture, with some change :

  • younger
  • mouth changements
  • new short
  • somes other modifications

Thank you, yes I will animate this girl. And the other character (who aren’t made yet)

I’ll make some animations for my game, but before I have to make a good armature with some feature :

  • FK and IK (for arms and legs)
  • squash and stretch (?)
  • some good foot bones features (to create a walk easily) like in the “red-nelb” armature for example
  • iksolver in the hand modify with a rotaion from another bone to close the fingers

And I have to make some good shape keys too :wink:

Yeah, rigs can be tough, but its always best to put in the work, because sub-par rigs are just a waste of time.
