More Advanced Neon Material for Cycles

There are plenty of old tutorials on how to do neon with paths (what I do in that regard is nothing fancy), so you might want to skip ahead of my path modeling to the actual node setup part. The unique thing the tutorial covers is making a neon glass tube material for paths which is good for closeups and situations (like in a daytime photo) where the neon itself is underexposed. Since it usually doesn’t bloom out in that situation, the glass and some aspects of the neon glow itself becomes more visible, and this material setup reflects that.
