Is it possible to morph a single text character in to a shape?
I would like to animate a ‘&’ morphing in to a sphere…
Have googled and searched this forum but to no avail.
Any help greatly appreciated.

One method using Shapekeys:
Create the text using the Add Text option, convert the text into a mesh - ALT+C => “Mesh from Curve/Text/etc.”, get rid of any duplicate vertices (key W => Remove Doubles). Add a Basis Shapekey, Add a new Shapekey, move the vertices into you spear shape with the Shapekey set to 1 (not 0). Then in Object Mode keyframe the Shapekey Slider from 0 to 1.

Oh yes - Welcome to BA!
Thank you for the reply but you lost me at Sphere.
Text created = check
Converted to mesh = check
No doubles to remove apparently.
Basis Key in Object mode = check
New shape key = check
Then lost me…
Sorry.
No need to apologise…
OK so you should have two Shapekeys like this:

Change the Value to 1, by clicking in it and typing 1 - then press Return.
Now move all the existing vertices so they form a spear instead of a letter - don’t add any vertices and don’t take any away. All this is done in EDIT mode.
Exit Edit Mode and move the Value with your mouse so it goes from 0 to 1 - the mesh will morph between how the vertices look when the key is 0 and how they look when the key is 1.
I’ll post a file tomorrow, no time to do that tonight…
Cheers, Clock.
