Morph via Shrinkwrap doesn't work properly

I have 2 meshes of glaciers (one from 1850 and one from 2016) and I want to morph the older one into the newer one. I learned to do this with the Shrinkwrap modifier. Unfortunately the “morphed” model does not completely look like the target mesh. What can I do.

Well… the shrink-wrap–modifier does exactly this… wrapping some object by shrinking it to some other form…
If you need some “in-between-steps” to visualize the morphing-sequence… then some other approach may be more fitting… also because the S-W may just not wrap to the target correctly…

So guess you have “shape” this form accordingly… IDK if shape keys are the way to go because you have to find a “propper” geometry which could be morphed into botj (or more) targets…

Thinking about this… the glacier is following the valley… so it fills more or less of it downwards the valley… so maybe some more simulation approach may solve this better…
