mosaic pattern

is there a simple way to make a background mosaic like in old roman fresco ?

in 2.49 or 2.5

In this tutorial he uses PS and 3DSmax but I did the same with GIMP and Blender and it turned out awesome.

My idea is that get big Blank say for example 2048x2048 in Gimp and Fill it will light gradient.
Use Gimp’s Mosaic utility.
Create a Plan in Blender with lots of points and UV Map. In UV Map put that image and create NOR with 5.
This will create a nice Mosaic background

Now Put this Plane in front of the camera behind the scene.

Hope this will do?

the 3Ds mosaic very nice
looks like a mosaic but very symetrical and nice

ok so basically there are no simple script to make such a mosaic may be less symetrical!

is there a tut on this GIMP thing i’ll try it

mind you i do remember seeing a voronoi script 2D
but not certain if it can do nice thick black lines and 3D effect !

there is also the blender voronoi col2 but nor effect is not very good!
