Motherboard capabilities

Hi everyone, I v’e got a Gigabyte GA Z77M D3H and I would want to Know if a SLI is possible.
It says that it Support crossfireX and multiGPU support.

Expansion Slots

  • 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
(The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)
  • For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.
  • The PCI Express x16 slot supports up to PCI Express 2.0 standard when an Intel 32nm (Sandy Bridge) CPU is installed.
  • 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)
  • 1 x PCI Express x1 slot
(The PCIEX4 and PCIEX1 slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
  • 1 x PCI slot

It have 2 PCIx16 So Will it be possible? And if yes wil it be a x4 or x8 SLI
Cheers and happy blending

It does not support NVIDIA SLI, otherwise they’d be advertising it.

However, Blender does not use SLI, at all. Using multiple GPUs in your system itself does not require SLI. Also, rendering with multiple GPUs in Cycles does not need SLI, it is actually advisable to turn SLI off for that purpose. Whether the GPUs run at 4x or 16x has very little impact on Cycles performance.

I am happy to learn that Cycles doesn’t use SLI. So I have just have to buy a 1000w power supply and only one 780ti or titan black edition and keep my gtx590

Edit: How does you choose 2 different cards in the blender user preferencies?
