Motherboard / graphics card

Greetings,

I was wondering if a few of you could post what motherboard you have and what graphics card you are running with BLENDER?

I’m on a PC, and are looking at making a computer optimised for stuff like BLENDER…any ideas??

Gigbyte Slot 1 mother board with a P3 450 CPU
and a Matrox G4500 videocard.

This an example of what not to get!!!
(BTW: blender runs awesome in linux when run under WINE… otherwise it sux royal @$$!!!)

Please read this thread: http://www.blender.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=2566

It’s about the same thing.

Actually, that thread you mentioned doesn’t really help me much. Thanks anyway.

I’m interested in hearing from people who are happy with there setups in a Windows environment, and what boards they have. I’m not interested in the gripes and other stuff.

Juts wanna know what uses have - cause there is plenty here - to get a good consensus of what I should upgrade to.

NForce 2 motherboard with AMD Athlon 2400+, 512MB Ram, Asus GeforceFX 5200 128MB with latest drivers.

Works great. I don’t know what other peoples render speed is like, but I can render 1600x1200 with lots of objects with reflection raytracing on (blender raytrace not yafray) in ~60 seconds. So pretty damned fast.

When I upgraded from the Asus drivers to the latest Nvidia ones, I noticed my render time pretty much halved.

Oh, and using windows or linux [fedora], depends what I’m doing, I have blender on both platforms.

The point of the thread I linked you to was what hardware should that person buy to blend on! I know it turned out being a gripe session but there is info that is just going to be repeated in here…

AMD CPU, KT400/600 or Nforce2 chipset, geforce card, etc…
