Motion blur bug in animation

Does someone help me how to fix motion blur artifacts in animation

I’ve been tried auto smooth disabled and deformation turned off, still doesn’t work :frowning: . This caution me upset for a week…

First question: Is there a chance that there are values animated that might not be visible because they look the same but are actually different, like 360 degrees rotated and 0 degrees rotated?? Or for example an object that is out of frame and is in 1 frame difference animated into place to create the illusion that it suddenly appears out of nowhere but it just literally moved to fast to see??

I once rendered an animated walkcycle of a robot… and I noticed that the legs had to rotate 360 degrees each step to loop the animation, so I made the legs jump from 360 to 0 from the last frame of the loop to the first. It looked as if it made sense. But when rendered, the motion blur went crazy on the frames surrounding that 360 degree invisible change of rotation. I only discovered this years later that it actually made sense.

If that is not the case I have the same issue as you have I think.
When I render the sequence some frames have very weird artifacts if motion blur is turned on.
Usually it’s only the case when it is a mesh deformed by an armature and/or shapekeys…

I think this must have a logical explanation.
The problem is that often rigs go along with very complicated calculations with a lot of technical details, all influencing the final result.

So, what I am trying to say is that the exact reason the render is “glitchy” is sometimes way to hard to figure out when you’re not a mathematical genius in my opinion.
I think it is often just a very silly inconvenience in the order in which the light and the deformations and everything gets calculated by the engine.

What I try to do when this keeps occuring and I can’t solve it:

  • just lower the motion blur amount (usually this helps enough for me)
  • if you really need a lot of blur to communicate the exageration of the speed, you can always try to fake it in compositing or play with speed changes of the animation and motion blur values to cheat your way around it…
    for example: IF the motion blur only works fine when set to 0.1, just double the speed of the animation, this way you should have the same result as putting the motion blur on 2.0. The only problem you have then is that you have less frames of course, but by using the NLA editor you should be able to offset the animation by half a frame to render the (original) odd and even frames seperately.

Depends upon what is causing the artifacts. Can you post an image of the problem with a description of what is going on when the problem occurs?

This seems to have something to do with the graphics driver, but I don’t know the details.

Change Optix to CUDA and try it.

If there is no improvement after changing to CUDA, Motion blur should be applied using the filter in Composing.

There may be other causes than motion blur.
One of them is the Bevel modifier.

in rendering animation, seems at area point like glitching. Suddenly appear like white streaks some render pict.

Other places look strange too… :thinking:
Let’s also upload an image without motion blur for comparison.
