Hi all,
this is not about any blender game engine related project although I’m not sure if this is the right section for this either. If not the moderators are welcome to shuffle the post around.
I’m writing a free (GPL) motorcycle racing simulation and although the physics are ok at this point (they’re pretty realistic, based on an academic paper model) I’m having trouble with the art, lacking both time and skill for this job. I’m therefore curious if there might be any free software and/or motorcycle enthusiasts on this forum interested in creating models/textures for the simulation. What I would need is the track which must be modelled around an existing mesh for the road (which is procedurally generated by the simulator) and a motorcycle/rider.
There’s also another idea that might be worth exploring if anyone’s interested. Given the models for the track/bike it should be possible to export the animation produced by the simulator for use with blender. This might be a useful tool for Blender artists since it is easy to create the animation by riding around in real time and then export it to Blender for rendering. I know that Blender has its own physics engine but I don’t know of any specialized models with these features.
Anyway, let me know what you think. I’ve created a small capture of the simulation/game with my own provisional graphics. You can watch it online here if you like:
