Move multiple items at once in Outliner to empty or collection?

Curious if there is any way to move multiple items in the outliner at once. You can select multiple, but they seem to only move drag one at at time. This seems like a huge limitation, especially with the new Collections feature. Is there really no way to move a whole bunch of items to a new collection at once? Parenting to an empty in a new collection doesn’t seem to move items either, it just links them?

Not in 2.80, however, in 2.81 the outliner has received some TLC so you can do this with the nightly builds. I tend to bounce between 2.80 and 2.81 to take advantage of things like that and the intel denoiser.
