Movie question

how do you guys make a movie?
Do you just move the characters and camera to another position when you jump to another place or what?
And I want to know how I can save short animations in one place and add another animation to the same animation so it looks like we are on another planet or something

depends on the style really,
if its a movie, look up references on you tube or something.
but it is hard to create one, im saving all my shots for a big one.
choose music thats fits with the music, thats hard!

I asked more like “how do you guys jump from scene to scene?”
I dont know how you guys do. It would be awesome if I could save 1 scene animation and somehow put in another scene after that animation without to render it all at the same time. But I would like to know how to render it all at the same time as well

Hi guys
new to the blender and the forums here (also new to modeling but had some limited exp)
tryin to make a rendered video from my game animations
is that possible?

i want to make this animated based on the physics engine (the 1 falling piece just as a test)

here is a video i made in the game engine alone

but i would like to see one come out nice and textured like it is in the pic :frowning:
when i press render animation in the render menu i let it run for about 15 minutes it made about 50 jpegs but no movement :frowning:

what did i do wrong?
thanks again
(didnt want to start a new thread on my 1st post)

ohh, its easy:
you can use the sequence pannel and put clips in diffrent places,
or you can move the camera over 1frame, eg.
frames 1-10 are film scenes.
frames 10-11 have scene transition
frames 11-20 are film scenes.
i rarely use this method though :frowning:

Hey justin and welcome to the forums!!

So after 15 minutes why do you see no movement? That’s because there was no movement for blender to render! There were no animations. If you hit ALT+AKEY Blender will play all the animaitons in the scene. When you hit PKEY to play, blender starts a simulation which is realtime, not an animation. So to render an animation with the phisycs and the textures, you’ll need to go to the “Game” menu and hit “Record game physics to IPO”. Hit PKEY to start the sim (it will be much slower  ) and hit ESC when you want to stop. Anything you just saw, will now be converted to an animation. (ALT+AKEY to see it) Render this with nice materials and see what happens

Hope this helps!!

thank you robo that looks like its working
can blender put out an AVI or do you assemble the pics in an editor like movie maker or something?

in the render pannel go here and set it to avi.

render and your done.

Justin, render it out as individual frames (Eg JPG, or PNG), then use blenders Sequencer to import the “image strip”, and then render it out as a movie format. That way its much safer if blender crashes on frame 30.

If its just for testing, render as a regular movie file.

that way you use up room,
you can turn up quality settings too, its the same as a image.

hey guys thanks a lot
it didnt crash at frame 30 using the raw avi format
i got 10 seconds of video rendering for about an hour and half (would that be considered slow or fast?)

10 seconds = about 350megs
bounced that down to 35 megs for YT

now what i dont get is why at 7 seconds does the plate melt through the other plate?
any ideas on what i could have done wrong?

hmm my post didnt show up
maybe it got caught in a spam filter?
2nd try

No prob Justin, and thankyou to Guiseppe and ionee a good idea!

yeah i made another and i used jpegs this time and it went a lot faster than the raw avi

i have a question though

i make the models by making a level copying it and manually aligning it with the level below (grab + Z) then i copy the new structure and so on and so forth

is there a way to get these lined up perfectly so that they sit perfectly still
i notice some movement with tall structures in the game engine

is there a way to correct that?

thanks

here is my latest test render

thanks again
