Movie textures out of Blender renderers

Hi,

I’m presently trying around external rendering solutions for Blender.
Main reason is that I’m searching for some cross-platform GPU rendering solution (Apple / PC), and Cycles is not working well with Apple AMD integrated graphics.
Ideally, I would like to keep GPU renderer preview in viewport.
But overall I need to keep one functionality stucking me to Cycles : Movie Texture.
I didn’t found this feature in all the renderers I’ve tried. Did you ?

To go aroung this issue, I’m now thinking it’s possible to create a script, in charge to automatically change the image file of an “image texture” depending of the rendering frame number (in animation mode). I could have my movie as an image sequence in a folder, and dynamically change the image attaching rendering frame number to the image filename (frame : XX > image filename : sequence-00XX).
Do you think it can be done easily ? Perhaps it has already be done ? If no, do you think to some pitfall ?
