Moving object to layers

Hi all, my project im doing at the moment, I had to move a object i made from one layer to another to join up to the main scene. I used the m key and selected my layer.

I moved a few objects around and made a few changes. then i came to the object i moved from the layer. I go into edit mode, select a vertices to adjust and the whole model moves (not the vertices)

have i done something wrong or is this a bug. :frowning:

I have tried reloading and I still have the same problem. only thing is, im pretty new to blender and spent half the day making this and now i cant edit the object i moved.

Ensure you have not enabled proportional editing (shortcut O or icon on 3d view header) http://www.blender.org/manual/getting_started/basics/transformations/transform_control/proportional_edit.html?highlight=proportional
