Multiple copy of an object similar to this in 3ds max?

Hi guy’s,

I have Google for an hour and a saw a lot of old threads that lead just to more confusion for a very simple thing we take for granted in 3ds max here a gif to show what i am looking for ;

When we hold shift+D in 3ds max we get a dialog box asking you how many copies you want to add and even choice about instance or reference.

Is there a way to do this very simple operation in Blender or am i out of luck?

I dont quite think you’ve done your “hour” of research sir, googling “blender array”, “blender duplicating” “blender cloning”, all these would give you the answers you want.

Either add an array modifier:

Or use Duplicate and repeat (Shift D, and Shift R)

I indeed did my research but what i meant was if it was possible without array since it bring more click to do a simple operation and i suffer from RSI so i want to minimize the clicking.

Regarding the shift d and shift R for me it doesn’t work and i am on 2.79., shift r is rotating the object and not repeating it along axis.

Shift + r repeats previous action so if you just shift d copy first object then shift r should repeat that action as many times you want

OK case solved since closing Blender and open it again make the shift +R duplicate the copy work as intended but don’t ask me why!

Thank Thomas it was a glitch since restarting Blender made the shift +R work.
After 17 years in 3ds max these kind of strange occurrence are normal, when you try to debug it for hours and then a simple restart and voila working like it is suppose to.

You are welcome! I am missing that max cloning window aswell (although there might be some addon for that i wasn’t digging too much) but this repeat action is really good (Just that I am missing in max btw since repeat last command is limited there, autodesk got simple solution for autocad but not 3ds max lol). Anyways glad that reset solved it.

Agree that would be a cool little addons and i like the way it is working in max like positioning your cursor on the axis of your choice then shift+D and the popup show up letting you choose number of copies and also options for instance and reference.
