Multiple Edge Select / Edge ring select in UV mode?

Hi,

I’ve been trying to select multiple edges in the UV mode the way you can select them in the 3d view, by drawing a rectangle around the edges you want and have them all selected. I clicked on the Edge Select mode button, tried to draw a rectangle on just the edges I want, but nothing gets selected. I have to draw the rectangle around the whole edge, which means other edges I don’t want get selected(like in vertex mode).
Alternatively Edge ring select would work, can you do this in the UV editor?

I know you can Alt-Select and Shift-Alt-Select in the UV editor. I do it all the time.

I use the “c” tool (forget what it’s called) in UV maps as well as in modeling. Shift-c to deselect. Alt-select edges (make sure you have edges selected in the UV editor) is very handy with the Weld tools when you want an evenly spaced UV map over an irregularly shaped model, or to match edges of your islands. The box tool, as you mentioned, works too. In all cases, make sure your cursor is in the UV editing window and hasn’t wandered off somewhere else - this stuff won’t work otherwise.

The Alt+Select selects edge LOOPS, I’m trying to select Edge RINGS, which isn’t working in the UV editor. The C tool also won’t select the edge, unless I select both end points of that edge(the vertices which still show up in the UV editor–unlike the 3D view).
Here’s an example of the Edge Ring select in the 3D view, which works when I press Alt+Ctrl+Select:

You can enable Keep UV and edit mode mesh selection in sync and select in the 3d view instead.
