Multiple UV Texture Issues

I have a very simple setup with just a plane that has been knife cut down the middle. From there, I selected the right face and UV mapped texture1 onto it then selected the left face and UV mapped texture2 onto it.

My first issue is that I can’t seem to figure out how to ever again see how each of the two UV maps is setup in the UV/Image editor. I would like to be able to come back to one UV/Image editor and tweak the mapping at some other point. Is there some way to select the left face and get the UV/Image editor to display the image that is mapped to that face?

The second issue is that when in edit mode with a face selected the UV/Image editor won’t let me change the image. I am trying to manually do what I describe in the paragraph above but I cannot select the image that is mapped to the currently selected face even though it shows up correctly. You can see in the image below that the right face (blue texture) is selected and is mapped properly but the UV/Image editor shows the other texture.

Any ideas?
