Multithreaded Fluid Baking


Can fluids can be baked multithreadedly?

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo. I set Threads to 2. However, that only seems to affect rendering. While baking, CPU usage only hits 100%, not 198%. The baking resolution is set to 200 (there are 2100 frames), so anything I can do to speed it up would be great to know!

You could also launch two blender and separate the scenes in two files, but I guess you lose memory for quality …

We tried with the same computer on winXp and linux, and, with linux, Oh, we could increase memory up to 4gigs. With XP it crashes on 2 gigs …

No multithreaded baking isn’t possible right now and probably won’t be in the near future. This is just one of those algorithm that can’t be broken down into pieces.

You can bake while doing something else :smiley:
