there are several topics about free music libraries and stuff. here I want to talk about the lawlike stuff…

what about the music put into a movie or whatever?

I know heard about this stuff (not really sure about):
a sample (15sec) is allowed
there is “free” music available
you can use the music, unless you dont distribute it

questions I got:
as an example. I want to use acdc - highway to hell :). where can I ask for?
is there a page where you can “buy” music for our purposes?
what if I use a commercial track? and they catch me? (I’m not thinking of this)

Here are two sites that should get you an abundance of information. Especially check out their Copyright FAQ sections and Licensing sections.

These two groups represent most of the artists out there, and their FAQ sections should give you a fair shake at what’s “fair use” and therefore royalty-free.

Also, check out http://www.sounddogs.com/catsearch.asp?Type=2 for royalty-free music that you can download for a one-time purchase fee.
