My 2D-Platforming Game - Sprites made with Blender

I’m not quite sure where to put this, but since all the Graphics and Sprites where made with Blender, and the fact that it’s Finished, I hope this is the right place…

Here’s the Link to the File if you want to give it a shot, it’s 19MB: Bloo Country
Note: When you click to open the file, give it around 30 seconds for the loading screen to appear, then give that a couple minutes.

Looks funny, and I really do like the glow effects and grass colors, looks very great, downloading it right now

wow that looks ace!

Great game! I love how even the backgrounds are animated, and the “doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-dooooo!!” at the end of each level. Good level design, good controls (although the arrow keys would be better for movement). The music leaves something to be desired, but everything else is very well done.

Thanks for looking! :stuck_out_tongue:

Friday13:
About the Arrow Keys,
I don’t know if that would be comfortable considering the use of the Mouse.
I know the Music isn’t good, it was a last minute thing
I glad you enjoyed it, especialy the “doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-dooooo!”

Great! What program are you using? I always use GM but when loading jpegs my pictures get messed up in the process of becoming sprites.

heh this is gonan be a random comment-

but the lightning ont he house in the top pic reminds me of the elder scrolls - oblivion screenshots lol

cheers

Haha, yeah, played through it, very funny, I do also like the idea of the gold donouts and cats and quite everything

=) sweet …
Lack of anit-aliasing in some sprites. Does engine support 8bit alpha channel? or just 1bit?
some gameplay faults:

  1. Pickup donuts not only when they lie on the ground, but also when they ricochet from enemies.
2)“Ride” levels are generated “unfair” sometimes. Basicaly they have to be generated so U can finish them without losing a life. Especially hunted ride level.
Anyway I liked the game =) it was fun to play, thank U.

Thanks for looking! :stuck_out_tongue:

Kashoki: I’m using Game Maker, too.
I don’t really use jpegs because the compression dosent work well, so I just use .gif or .png

Dwarfose: Probably because of all the Bloom :stuck_out_tongue:

Rinne: Thanks!

vladius: Nope, just single-color alpha, but it does have an edge-smoothing option, I guess I should have clicked it more often 8)

About those gamplay faults:

  1. Yeah, your right about that, didn’t think of it
  2. I know, I’d hoped no one would notice 8) hopfully next time I will be able to place all the Obstacle by hand.

Thanks again to all who replyed

Also, changed the Download Link, since the old one’s Bandwidth was completely used up!

Nice!!! Yeeee

Wow, I’m really glad I stopped by the forums.

Awesome job you guys. The art is top-notch. Very lovable and cute story.

Have you made other games? How long have you been working on it? How much time spent on art and how much on sound and how much on code? A postmortem would be great.

Also do you mind if I announce on gamedev.net?

10GB bandwith and you used it all up!

I cant see any images.

I quote.

Hey Border, thanks, glad you enjoyed the game
Sure I’ll answer those questions.

Have you made other games?>
Nope, this is our first one

How long have you been working on it?>
Well, I first downloaded the
Game Engine that was used, Game Maker, last July. I spent a couple months getting the hang of it, then began work on the game in September. Besides a few brakes, and spending the last month getting rid of all the bugs (most of them anyway) and preparing it for launch, I’d say around 4 mounths were spent.

How much time spent on art and how much on sound and how much on code?>
Most of the time was spent on the Art 8) Many, many hours Blendering away. The Sound was mostly done at the end of development. And as for Coding, I was learning to do it while I was making the game, so it took long then it whold now %| Also, besides the Coding, there is the placeing Objects in the Levels, and working on Objects besides the Code, and also testing, lots of testing, among other things that arent realy Codeing, they are Game-Making
So I’d have to say, 70% Art, 28% Game-Making, 2% Sound.

Thanks alot for the relpy :stuck_out_tongue:

Enriq766 & darko: Sorry about that, I’ll have to switch Hosts.

Sorry! I forgot to answer that yesterday, doh! :x
Sure, go ahead, in fact, I’d be glad, I’m to lazy to do it myself since I don’t go there much.
Feel free to spread it about all you wan’t, but tell me where so I can see what people say 8)
Thanks :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks!
Anybody know of any other good places to post my game? %|

Cute! My favorite part is the car game.
