It’s not like I don’t like the PS2 or XBox because they have mostly bad games, but because most people are stupid about how much the Nintendo Gamecube sucks(I like the gamecube), even though they probibly played it for about 3 minutes.
EDIT: Holy crap!! Microsoft’s rushing the 360. Yay!! Do you know what this means? This means it’s probibly going to be similar to the Dreamcast. Why is that so good? Because, when Sega rushed the Dreamcast, they left some holes open for programmers. This means that programmers, 3d artisrt, ect., can get their hands on the Dreamcast and make thier own games, port Linux to it. And if you can prot Linux to it, then you might be able to run Blender…

here volt is one of the lower rated caffine drinks
Heh, I think Microsoft did the same error it always does, when it’s launching something new: rushes it out whitout proper testing. They were too busy getting ahead and the gamble they took was too risky. Or then again it’s possible that there was just one bad patch of boxes sent to stores.
HeHe Microsoft are so used to controlling the OS industry that they’re used to bringing out buggy software that everyone will still have to use. Not so in the games console industry! If serious bugs appear in the XBox 360 it’ll be buried by the PS3 and eventually by the Revolution. YaY!

My greatest fear is that games will look too real and will feel more like a movie then a game. Unless it’s a X rated game
I’m waiting for Cell for the computer before I upgrade mine again as well as games.
Why are the XBOX 360 games $59.99 instead of $49.99? Do you really think they are losing money per console?
I am not as excited about the latest generation of consoles as I was the last one four years ago. Maybe I am getting old %| . Sure I would like a 360, but most of the games seam ho-hum. I can play CoD2 on my PC just fine.
I was so excited about Halo four years ago. It looked awesome back then and it was exclusive. Some of the more interesting titles will not be released for several months. I think I am going to wait and see.
Yes. A lot. If the console was at-cost then no one would buy them. You have to buy about 2 games on any recent console until the company can break even. And of course, most people that own a console buy more than that.
That’s why it’s better for Microsoft (or Sony/Nintendo) when you buy the bundle. Do you think a 20GB hard drive and a wireless controller costs $100 to make? Probably not. But they are still loosing about $100 on each console. Which is okay because they are getting an XBOX in your home. That’s the goal. It’s very smart business.
As far as $60 games, that’s pretty high. Yes, games are costing more to make because of the increased amount of detail that has to be put into games, but quite honestly that’s because games are mostly growing in the one direction that costs the most money; graphics. There are tons of other areas that should have been brought up at the same pace.
Although, quite honestly the games on the 360 are not that much different than the ones you get on your PC right now; certainly not enough to invoke a $10 price increase. In addition to micro payments, the Live Marketplace, episodic content, and customizability, I think a major theme for the XBOX 360 is getting as much money out of the consumer as possible. J Allard’s E3 presentation made me sick for that reason. It reecked of leeching off of consumers. But again, it’s very smart business.
Then you have very smart consumerism. You vote with your money, and I don’t really want to vote for more $60 games (unless they totally own, in which case I’ll vote for more of that).
IIRC, that only applies to Sony and Microsoft.

What I think is funny as they bubble and moan about people illegally getting the games. But then they turn out selling there games for $60.
And the standard person goes WTF, I aint spending $60 on a game I can get for my pc that is cheaper. Then they say ow wait a minute I can get that game for $10 ilegaly.
Company loses out in $60, person feels he has saved $50.
It doesnt cost that much to make you graphics fancier. What does cost is debugging the games. Which they seem to be lacking these days in games and now game consoles.
IIRC, that only applies to Sony and Microsoft.[/quote]
They do lose money, but I think it’s in the $10 range. Very, very small loss–certainly not a profit–but as soon as someone buys one game they start to make money. I think they say that they take a loss on each consoles to get the other console manufactures to think that they have to take a big loss on their consoles as well. They are the ones that came up with the idea after all, but they rarely practice it.
Nintendo will always make a low-cost system so that they can maximize profits. Heck, ever notice how many fewer ads you see from Nintendo on TV? There are other was to get media exposure rather than paying for it, and they are very good about that. They are also very good at perpetuating rumors, too. The best kind of ad for your company is a news story, so they do news-worthy events.
I have no desire to pirate a movie because $15 for a new DVD is very reasonable for a 2 hour long video and audio experience. Compared that to $19 for a CD, which is 30 minutes of 2 channel audio. Gee, I wonder why people pirate music.
I’m waiting for the day when new games will once again cost $35. Oh. That’s why I bought a Nintendo DS isn’t it :). Mark Rein of Epic, even though I don’t agree with most of his comments, has a dream that games can cost the same as DVDs. DVDs could cost $15 if enough people buy them. Games are starting to cost as much as movies, and without the consumers buying them, they will continue to cost $50.
If the Revolution can have that non-hardcore gamer apeal (which is needed for Rein’s dream), and if the games only cost $40 (which Nintendo has said they are shooting for), Nintendo is going to be swiming in cash.
I remember the cart’s for the N64 were $60. I think the difference in price gave the PS1 a boost.
I think Microsoft and the retailers should have a promotion for existing XBOX owners. You should be able to turn in your old system for a $50-$75 rebate or gift card that could be put toward the new system hardware, games, or accessories. The old systems could be donated to a charity like the Boys and Girls clubs. Just a thought.
there controller is garbage, who wants a remote looking pos to play fps, or sports games, yeah i heard it uses motion sensors, so you can have more interactivity, yeah soo
i will just swing this pos in my hand and pretend its a 10lbs bat, very realistic i must say.
I think I’ll go out on a limb here, and say:
DUMBASS.
FPS: Thumbstick moves, you aim with controller, shoot with trigger.
10Ib BAT: A thumbstick is SO much more realistic.
FLIGHT GAMES: Whole controller = Plane joystick + trigger.
JEDI: Thumbstick moves, slice n’ dice with controller. Perhaps hold a button down and use gestures for force powers.
Eg. Hold down A button, jerk controller forwards to Force Push.
Do your research, and wait 6 years before posting here again. Please.
I’m just gonna buy it for the zelda games.
This just goes to show, just because the 360 looks dissapionting now, doesnt mean it will later. Remember, Microsoft rushed the dev kits, and the full ones only got to developers a few months ago (Correct me if I’m wrong
.)
By the time the ps3 comes out, the 360 will be broken in, and games will be looking a lot better.
Many developers are going to be reluctant to take advantage of the Xbox 360 because that would mean refurbishing the games for ps2 and gamecube. And if they dont there profit is going to be low.
So your not going to get fancyer graphic games untill the other next gen consoles come out.
just my humble opinion…
Microsoft: Sure, they released… err… RUSHED… their console before Sony and the big N… sure the 360 has some little glitches for some… but man… we are talking Microsoft here, they may not have the best to offer, but they sure KNOW how to make everyone like their console… Besides that, maybe having the console being release first will allow many more software developers learn more about the console’s power, giving the 360 a big advantage over the rest (besides, they are having some pretty interesting companies working on their console… Epic for example)… :x
Sony: Well… this console has just amazed me with what it promises it will do… I just feel a little unsure about the future of the console… first because of it’s price (I heard it was around US$700). And second, the cost that developing a game for this console will be very very high (due to the way the console’s processor works)… this might scare some developers… but well… Sony’s always found a way to “kick ass” and release excellent games… so I’m eager to see what Sony will pull out when the PS3 is released…
Nintendo: Well well, at first i was a little bit… dissapointed with the console itself… The rumors were that it wasn’t going to have the same power that of the PS3 or the 360… and when the controller was released I really really doubted of the future of Nintendo… then after I sat down, and thought it thorough fully… I thought… “It’s going to be fun” And so, the Revolution honors its name… it will be a Revolution (I specially enjoyed that “nunchaku” mix of the thumbstick + the remote). PLUS, it’s going to be ridiculously CHEAP…
A little thing about controllers…
360’s controller… well, it’s reutilization of a controller that aparently had a nice impact on people, personally I have used it… (doom 3 is fun!) and I am not dissappointed, though some buttons seem badly positioned, overall it’s a comfortable controller… (gotta love the trigger L and R buttons!)
Sony’s controller… well, it ok if they reuse the same controller that they have been using for the last decade… it proved to be comfortable and easy to use (whenever I see a PS controller I think Tekken!)… but… I’m not so excited about the new controller… Although I will not say anything else until I get my hands on one of those bomerang controllers… It might as well end up being very comfortable… which in the end is the whole idea!
Nintendo’s controller… well, nintendo basically has been experimenting with controllers since… for ever… only the Game Boy (all of it’s verions) hasn’t changed it’s overall button layout… The Cube’s controller felt just right… the sensitivity of the sticks was perfect and the buttons were nicely placed, and all felt just right! But I have no words for the new controller… I’m simply speechless… not because of it’s creativity or anything… but just because it’s a weird (cool nonetheless) concept! And just like the PS3, I cannot say anything until I get my hands on one of those… Although I admit, the controller has cautivated me, and I DON’T want to miss the Revolution when it comes out…
It’s going to be though… on one side we have the two heavy-weights (in terms of power) Sony and Microsoft… on the other hand… we have Nintendo… it’s funny though… Nintendo is always releasing cool stuff, just like if they were having fun making consoles and games… just like if they… had nothing to loose? %|
Next year’s going to be interesting…
AND IF YOU GOT THIS FAR! I WANT TO PERSONALLY CONGRATULATE YOU FOR READING THIS IRRELEVANTLY LONG POST! but i cannot do that… so I’ll just congratulate you though the forums
(can’t wait to get my hands on the Revolution!)
Seeing as they literally own the handheld market, they probably literally don’t have much to loose.

It’s funny you should say that. VHS videos were about $10 each for a brand new title, and they were something like 50 times more expensive to produce. ![]()

Yeah, but at least we have all the special features. Unfortunately, it seems that many DVDs don’t provide much in that area anymore either.
It’s sad, really. I was really looking forward to seeing more behind the scenes of War of the Worlds.
