I made it with a gimp texture I made and blender 2.66.I am having fun.
I don’t think it’s substantial enough to consider it a full-fledged finished work though.
What you did was add a texture to a sphere (with the default material settings), place a green plane below it (with the default material settings), and move the starting lamp to a place above it. I’d consider it more of a test that was made to help you learn Blender.
In all, if you want to get this to where it truly looks finished, then perhaps start on an environment and learn how to use the different material settings to give different shading values for different surfaces.
