My Best As of Now =(

Hey people, still just barley learning blender better. Just learned how to use the path thing to make objects follow it. =( Anyways I this is what I have so far. I got the mountains which you can’t see and the moon from a file I downloaded. Just can’t remember the person who made it otherwise I would give the credit . . . Umm. . .Oh! Anyways I made the whole bridge thingy and I added the water. I want to have a castel or something at the end of the bridge but I am stuck as what to do next lol. I am open to seggestion, critics, and comments. Just don’t be to harsh  lol.http://www.angelfire.lycos.com/realm3/clanwarsong/NEw.jpeg

Don’t be so hard on yourself. We all have to start somewhere. It is a nice start. It would look good if you had the water go to the horizon though. The moon would look good with some crater textures too. I like your bridge design. Keep working on it!

I like the bridge design, although it’s hard to see it clearly. Maybe a rendering with brighter lighting.

What to do next… Why not start on the castle right away?

to make the water look like it’s going to the horizons, make the plane that the water’s on really big, then use fog. play with the settings until something nice comes out.

Very nice work. Perhaps make the water a little less clear and add some reflection. Also you could add in the refraction of the pillars under the water. You might want to try that.

Good work so far, keep it up.

I’d leave the water as it is. it gives it a story-book kind of feel, and looks cool too, even if it’s not highly realistic.

Looks great. Ditto the comments about extending the water to the horizon.

Now, all you have to do is learn character animation (excellent tutorial on this website) and put a couple making out on the end of the pier.

OK, perhaps not so fast.

Ya could ad a spaceship at end of bridge then use animation to have it flying away. Just a thought

Let me start with say that is wonderful work.
And let me continue with suggestions on how to impruve your pic:

  1. a little mist will make the water “squer” edge unvisible. (just activate the mist button in the world setting and play with it variables till you get it right.)
  2. make the water reflect (I think there is a tutorial somewhere in this site (look for env-map tutorial)).
3.keep doing beautiful things

PS: did you used the Magic texture to make the water color? anyway looks great!

Yea, It was the magic texture thingy. . . can’t think of its name. :frowning: I will look into that reflection, I was trying to figure out how to do that lol. And what do the different things on the mist bunnton do, or is it one of those ones where if I play around with it I will figure it out?

P.s.
Thanks everyone! makes me happy that I am not the only one that can stand looking at my picture lol.

Oh and anothetr thing, does anyone know where I can get a good grass texture or just textures in general?

i think your de for an update my friend, come on, show us the goods!

Darnel, look around on the internet for grass meshes. Blender imports DXF, just be sure to remove doubles. (in the edit buttons) To load one, just open your scene, hit F1 (not shift F1) and open the DXF. Then in edit buttons there is a little browse button. Check the pulldown menu for your mesh, if it hasn’t appeared already. As to non procedural textures, use the GIMP to make them would be my advice. It’s free and it runs on multiple platforms. Blender also imports VRML (WRL), and a couple of other formats. Good luck. Oh, check my weird portal thread in Finshed Projects. The cool looking grass is a DXF that I downloaded(also the couch, the blender, and the spring). Oh yeah, and also,…there is a good .blend texture download site,…I think it’s called ‘Mayang’s free textures’.

You may also like to experiment with one or more subtle wave effects on the water, or a stucci texture. May want to check out the ‘rippled water’ section here: http://download.blender.org/documentation/NaN_docs/Manual2.0/MaterialTexture.html .

or you can use the clouds texture on a plane and hit the noise button a couple of times, but thats not very detailed…

You mentioned that you had mountains in the background? Try and tweak your settings so they show up. And for this or future projects…I recomment Terragen and the Ter2Blend plugin. They are excellent for landscapes…in my opinion.

Where can I get the terrablend thingy?

Oh Yea! I am going to post what I have done but its not much. School just started and it stopped me from doing anything to my pic. I did however start to work on a room that I will post. Ok here they come.

A bit big huh? Does anyone know a good tutorial on how to make a flame? Need two for the lamps near the end of the bridge. Oh and how to make a spiral staircas! Need one on that too.

great work on the horizon! also it’s good to see some better lightting, now i can see the bridge much better… hmmm… the end of the bridge doesn’t seem stably supported, unless you plan to put something else there later on. and what’s the green thing on the far right side of the image? I would guess it to be the ground, but it needs a better texture.
flames are usually done with particles. I forget the tutorial i used… :frowning: although I can still remember the technique. there’s tutorials out there.
