Hi everyone…after blendering for 7 yrs!!! …i finally feel ready to post some work…
This is probably the best modelling i have done so far…well it had the most time and effort put into it.
Its fully rigged right down to the tounges…and hopefully one day ill get round to getting a short anim done with it… (is there any animators that fancy having a play with it?)
All feedback would be extremely appreciated!
ps- Feel free to check out my website and a large version of the images
Hey… Imageshack is really good…setting it up was easy! Thanks again… ok the link is below…and there is a huge version of the dragon on there! Hope it all works!
Whoa… That’s awesome! I suggest replacing the scale texture- when I saw it I thought “Black carpet with dandriff”. Whatever the hell that is.
*Oops… Looks like I just needed to see the full size image. The scales look much better now. They still have some room for improvement- there’s a LOT of texture stretching in many places, mainly on the chest and just below it. The shadow on the wing from the hand is also a little distracting.
Animating three heads, three tongues, two arms, two legs, a tail, and two wings would be hell. I’m up for the challenge.
Is that the KBD from RuneScape? ( I played that game a lot about a year and a half ago)
…it has got a bit of bump mapping…but yeah its not enough. I also havent actually done another black and white specific bump texture…I just turned the nor on the coloured one…is that a real bad way of doing it? I guess it is…Has anyone got a good tips before i give it a go?
…Yup, I find the stretching is soo hard to avoid… it wasnt too bad, but then when i posed it… its started to show up…i had pose it quite carfeully to not make it look so bad… which is a real pain becuase i was really aiming to have a model that i could play with without any limitations… guess it will take really clever modelling, unrapping and rigging to get it just right.?
Whoooahhh! Alden you are totally right…its is the KBD from Runescape!..i never thought anyone would guess that. Lol…I actually work for them…BTW were hiring 3D modellers and animators right now…if anyone fancies it…go to the jagex.ltd website and apply! Have to be UK resident… but they use in-house tools…which are vry similar to blender… so you dont have to know a specific software package…
I dont like the palms/paws to be honest,…even with more bump mapping i just didnt get the texture right…the wrinkles look rubbish… ill definitly have to look at those again… to be honest im not a very good 2D artist… i find the texture making a really struggle… (its just not as much fun as 3D!!) if someone out there … fancies having a go…just let me know!!
Whoa, you work at Jagex??? What do you work on for the game?
Anyway, fixing the texture stretching doesn’t require good modelling or good rigging. Just apply a checkerboard texture to your model. It will make the stretching more obvious. Tweak the unwrap until the stretching is gone. Using live unwrap will also help.
