There is this stupid problem with my computer where svhost.exe crashes because it cannot read some memory address … and it’s stupid. Yeah. After that program messes up a lot of programs and thinggies don’t work quite right. I cannot disconnect from the internet, I cannot use windows media player, I cannot copy and paste things, I cannot install or uninstall things, I cannot open up a new window in Internet Exporer, etc, etc, etc. The bottom line: Microsoft is smelly. This svhost seems, as I gathered, to be used to run other programs through. It’s amazing how many seemingly unrelated things all become messed up from one little problem. Windows has too many things all integrated together.
Anyhow, does anybody here know how I might fix this problem? I don’t know how to fix it because the error message doesn’t exactly tell me what caused the problem. There could be dozens of programs (or whatever) using svhost … I think. HEY! I’M NOT ENTIRELY STUPID!!! … only hopelessly stupid. Help!
after i type in the last command i new dos prompt opens and closes. and it works but to be on the safe side.
hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete go to the task manager then go to processes and then look for the svchost.exe file and it will tell you how much memory it is using. if you see it it is working. this is a temopary fix thou. if it is not there reboot your computer.
Yeah, perhaps I should have mentioned it was Windows 2000 (sp3 actually. I got it from a friend because he didn’t need it). Thanks for the help! I guess being able to fix it after crashing is better than having to restart the computer. Thanks.
Blaster Virus… RPC… Ms. Blaster Virus… I thought they were all one virus, but apparently they’s seperate… Sure, they seem to do the exact same thing, but they have different names… My friend got hit by all three… Hey, I should stop exaggerating… I have no friends.
