hey, ive just started using blender the other day…its awesome anyway, this is my first model of a human head and i was just wondering if you could give me feedback. Also the 3d reference which i used was a woman, but it came out looking too manly i think, and i dont know what to do to alter this…maybe when its complete it will look better? Also i was wondering what the best way of adding a skin texture to the piece would be…
thanks
Thank you very much…what does re-calculating your normals actually do…coz when you do it, nothing seems to happen The tutorial i used looks complicated but its easy to follow if you wanna try www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/misc/headmodeling
Recalculating the normals fixes weird shading results you can get sometimes, because for some reason blender will sometimes create a face that is not facing outward. And no you would not see any difference on the mesh I gave you because I had already done once.
Thanks for the link to the tutorial, I’ll check it out.

the first thing I noticed is how slow it was… 3 subdivision levels in the viewport really isn’t necessary. Using just 1 on a smooth shaded model should be enough… I don’t use it in edit mode. The back of the head has some duplicated edges and a floating vertex that needs to be deleted. The geometry you have going on for the nose is very messy.
Never uploaded anything to pasteall before, so I dunno if this works… I edited your model a little bit. http://www.pasteall.org/blend/4701
thanks for the help guys, i will look at the changes made this evening…i keep having trouble with floating vertisies or watever, and i always have things un attached…the back of the head was really annoying me…but thanks for fixing it
